Toronto Bookish Spotlight: The Lockhart

Last week, the book squad and I visited The Lockhart! For all of you guys who don’t know, The Lockhart is Toronto’s very own Harry Potter-themed bar, which now also has a location in Montreal.

I have visited The Lockhart TO a total of 3 times now, and it was a magical experience each time. It’s really not that obvious of a HP theme since at first glance it looks more like a typical hipster joint, but if you pay attention you can see tons of Harry Potter references. It’s really a gorgeous place. Even the bathroom has tons of references!

Their menu is a little bit pricey, but it’s not more than many other indie bars in town. They offer tons of very unique drinks, with very nerdy names, and a nice tapas menu to go along with them. Their food menu has changed quite a bit since the last two times I was there, but I think they cycle through various recipes every week.

They also have a few drinks that are shareable and arrive on fire. Yes, literally on fire. It’s hard to see in the picture because it was daylight, but the flame is there. And of course, they make their own version of Butterbeer which is pretty damn good, and can be ordered by the pitcher.

And to top it all off, The Lockhart has a magician and HP trivia nights every other Tuesday, which I definitely need to go to.

You can check out their website here, where you can also take a look at their menu (anyone see the Star Trek reference?).

Let me know whether you guys have been here or would like to go there! Or tell me whether there any nerdy bars or restaurants in your town!
